Rules and Regulations!
« Thread started on: Aug 25th, 2002, 08:39am » |
|
I dont have any rules laid out. Please read through all of these and agree and note that you have read understand them so when you break these rules you know why you are being punished. No one is in trouble we are all guilty of going off-topic and such, and I haven't laid down any rules yet.
POSTING REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS
1) Please use the News forum strictly for giving feedback on News and nothing else.
2) All regular discussion and chatter should be in the General forum.
3) Post in a thread for the reason the thread was started even in General please do this. If there is a thread called 'Dogs or Cats' and it is on if you like Dogs or Cats more and why, please only discuss these things in this thread, not other subjects. Please feel free to start a new thread on any subject you wish to discuss. So just try and use a thread for what it is intended for, I am all for general chatter and such but please put it in the proper thread and forum.
4) Please put threads in the correct forum. If you want to discuss your favorite member of the Fellowship of the Ring, don't put a thread in General or Gaming, etc. or talk about it in another thread, you should put it in the 'Lord of the Rings' forum that is what is made for. Another note on this is say you want to discuss your Favorite actor who plays a member of the Fellowship that goes in Movies. Ok? Also don't ask questions about the boards functionality in General please go to the 'Help!' forum.
For all you Newbies please introduce yourself in 'The Newbie Corner' not in General. You can start a thread in the Newbie Corner introducing yourself or whatever. But remember the Newbie Corner is just for introducing yourself and saying hello not for general chatter.
5) Please post things that you would find apporiate for a young person to here, no excessive rudeness or sexuality please. I find nothing wrong with some minor sexual posts put nothing non PG please.
6) Please no swearing on the boards I have nothing wrong with @$$ or arse or any other things, I do have some words made so when you type them they change to something nicer .
All these posting regulations being said, the occasional off-topic post is fine, I like random stuff and fun. You can start a thread that is a 'Hangout' thread if you want but don't destroy other peoples threads!! Please post off-topic randomness in a thread for that. But there is a line I really don't mind you chatting away but, if it gets to crazy and to long it will slow down the board and it will be deleted.
GENERAL ETTIQUETTE
1) Please be polite to others. This is a general rule in life, please no name calling, or 'picking on' other peoples ideas. That being said a little General teasing is ok, but if you dish it out you better be able to take it.
2) Please don't flame people or SPAM on peoples threads, I don't want to see wars and there won't be any if you do certain things your e-mail address, and your IP will be permenently banned. I won't be to harsh with this but if you do certain things, you are going to be dealt with lightly.
PUNISHMENT AND BANNING
Well first of all there isn't much Punishment set up for rule breaking there will soon be strict punishments set up for example
Posting rude comments that offend members, mods or admin. Below is what happens each time.
1) The first time you do this you will be strongly warned via PM and be told what will happen the second time and you will need to reply that you understand this.
2) Your power to post will be taken away for 1 week you will also recieve the #1 punishment.
3) You will have your e-mail address and IP banned for 1 year. After one year, if the people involved can move beyond this you will be un-banned if not you will be permenently banned. No exceptions.
That is just an example of one of the harsher rules.
So please follow these.
Another thing I have to add... if you have a problem with another member, a mod or even me please contact someone if it is another member or a mod contact me, if you have a problem with me please contact Luthien Tinuviel, or a moderator.
That being said don't take matters into your own hands if someone puts something you don't like don't dish it back at them and get mad contact a member of the staff and we will deal with it. If you take it into your own hands you will be as much accountable for the problem as the other person.
I hope you all read and understand these rules and understand why they are needed.
Please reply that you read and understand these.
There will soon be a 'Staff forum for only mods and Admin to discuss the punishments and rules. All mods and staff should report in there often and help out with punishments and rules.

Wow! Goin! You really have this very well thought out! Impressive! So when will this (is it a thread or a forum?) be up? Will it be limited to mod access? Sorry...... I'm a little tired. Anyway, I think that is a marvoulous list that will keep us all out of trouble!

Another note I would like to add to this is use the 'Modify' feature on posts so you don't have to double post.
All of the Moderators have been sent a PM concerning the new forum.
Please read it and go to the new forum.
